Summary

Suzuki Motor USA, LLC is recalling approximately 6,338 of its 2022-2024 GSX1300R (Hayabusa) motorcycles. A defect in the brake master cylinder can cause internal rubber components to swell and block the brake fluid port. This issue can extend the distance needed to stop the motorcycle, which increases the risk of a crash. Authorized dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder body and the brake fluid cap diaphragm free of charge.

Risk

The brake fluid port can become blocked due to chemical contamination that causes rubber parts to swell. If this happens, the rider may find that the motorcycle takes much longer to stop than expected, significantly increasing the likelihood of an accident.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your motorcycle's year and model to see if it is a 2022-2024 Suzuki GSX1300R (Hayabusa).
  2. Note that this is an expanded recall; even if your motorcycle was previously repaired under recall 23V-088, you must have this new remedy completed.
  3. Contact an authorized Suzuki dealer to schedule a free replacement of the front brake master cylinder body and the brake fluid cap diaphragm.
  4. If you have questions, contact Suzuki Customer Service at 1-714-572-1490 and reference recall number 3A04.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
