Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 18,325 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles from model years 2013 through 2019. These vehicles may have brake lines that rub against specific body mounts, causing the lines to wear down and leak fluid. A leak can cause the brakes to fail unexpectedly, which significantly increases the risk of a crash. General Motors will provide free inspections and repairs to ensure proper clearance and replace any damaged brake lines.

Risk

The brake line may be positioned too close to the body mounts, leading to physical damage from contact over time. This damage can cause a brake fluid leak, resulting in a loss of braking power or total brake failure while driving.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2013-2019 Chevrolet Express Cutaway or GMC Savana Cutaway equipped with the optional GM-provided body mounts (RPO BNC).
  2. Contact a Chevrolet or GMC dealer to schedule a free inspection of your brake lines. Dealers will replace the brake lines as necessary at no cost to you.
  3. If you own a Chevrolet, you can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 for assistance.
  4. If you own a GMC, you can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 for assistance, referencing GM recall number N242466950.
  5. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
