Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 37 units of certain 2023-2024 Freightliner Custom Chassis S2C 106 and 2024-2025 Freightliner Custom Chassis S2RV 106 vehicles. The brake lights on these vehicles may fail to illuminate when the brakes are automatically applied during an Active Brake Assist (ABA) event. To resolve this safety issue, authorized dealers will update the ABA software free of charge.
If the brake lights do not turn on when the vehicle is automatically slowing down, trailing drivers may not realize the vehicle is braking. This lack of warning significantly increases the risk of a rear-end collision.
Free Active Brake Assist (ABA) software update.
