Doosan Portable Power: Portable Generator Trailers Recalled for Brake Failure Risk

Summary

Doosan Portable Power is recalling approximately 960 Portable Generator Trailers from the 2015-2023 model years. The electric brake harness was incorrectly connected to the battery disconnect switch instead of the battery's distribution lug, which causes the trailer brakes to lose power when the battery switch is turned off. Owners are advised to stop towing these trailers immediately until the wiring can be corrected by a dealer for free.

Risk

If the battery disconnect switch is in the off position, the trailer's electric brakes will not engage during towing. This failure to brake significantly increases the distance required to stop and raises the risk of a vehicle crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop towing your 2015-2023 Doosan Portable Generator Trailer immediately and park it until the recall repair has been performed.
  2. Verify if your trailer is affected by contacting Doosan Portable Power customer service at 1-800-633-5206 and referencing recall number 12-23-8.
  3. Schedule a free repair with an authorized Doosan dealer to have the electric brake harness wiring corrected.
  4. For additional information, you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.

You have 2 options:
