In these vehicles, the brake caliper may hit a suspension spring or axle bolt, which can prevent the outer brake pad from working properly. Dealers will fix the issue by switching the left and right rear air disc brake calipers and replacing the rear brake torque plates and brake pads free of charge.
If the outer brake pad fails to function, it will take much longer for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. This increased stopping distance significantly increases the risk of a crash.
