Summary

Lightning eMotors Inc. (LeM) is recalling approximately 226 of its 2022 FT3 and FE4 electric vehicles because the digital instrument panel may fail to display critical warning lights. Specifically, the "BRAKE" and "ABS" indicators may not illuminate even when the system detects low brake fluid or a malfunction in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Lightning eMotors will provide a free software update for the instrument panel to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

If the warning lights fail to activate, a driver will be unaware of dangerously low brake fluid or an ABS system failure. This lack of notification can lead to reduced braking performance or loss of vehicle control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
