Summary

Approximately 85,000 Bialetti coffee presses are being recalled because the glass beaker can break during normal use, posing a serious cutting risk. There have been three reports of beakers breaking and cutting fingers, with two people requiring stitches. These 8-cup coffee presses were sold in blue, green, black, and red at stores like Target, HomeGoods, and Amazon from July 2016 through March 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using these coffee presses and contact Bradshaw International for a free replacement.

Risk

The glass beakers can shatter or break while in use, which can cause deep cuts or lacerations to the user's hands and fingers. Three incidents of breakage and injury have already been reported.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled Bialetti 8-cup coffee press.
  2. Check the color of your coffee press frame, lid, and handle; affected units were sold in blue, green, black, and red.
  3. Locate the date stamp on the underside of the plunger. It is a dial date code where the two numbers in the center represent the year and an arrow points to the month. Affected units have a date of March 2017 ('17') or earlier.
  4. Ensure the product is authentic by checking for the 'Bialetti' name on top of the plunger and the Bialetti icon and logo printed on each side of the plastic frame.
