Summary

Approximately 720 Bonded Apparel boys' long-sleeved zip-front hooded jackets are being recalled because they feature a drawstring in the hood. These jackets were sold in army green, aqua green, and black with a fake fur lining and various chest designs including the number '2', the letter 'B', the word 'ROCK', or 'AB Sportwear'. They were sold exclusively at dd's Discounts stores nationwide from August 2011 through December 2011 for about $8. While no injuries have been reported, consumers should immediately stop using the jackets and follow instructions for a refund or modification.

Risk

The drawstrings in the hood can become entangled or caught on objects, posing a serious strangulation hazard to children. Federal law prohibits drawstrings in children's hooded sweatshirts and jackets due to this risk.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your child's jacket for the labels 'SX' or 'QH' stitched at the neck and sizes 4-7 or S, M, and L.
  2. Identify if your jacket matches the designs: an embroidered number '2' or letter 'B' on the left chest, or the words 'ROCK' or 'AB Sportwear' across the chest.
  3. Verify the model number if you still have the original hang tag: 1006, 1029, 1058, or 1061.
  4. Immediately take the recalled jacket away from children.
  5. Remove the drawstring from the hood to eliminate the hazard, or contact Bonded Apparel for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.
  6. Contact Bonded Apparel toll-free at (888) 974-1555 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday, for more information.
  7. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional questions regarding this recall.
