Summary

About 28,000 Bodum rose gold Chambord locking lid 8-cup glass coffee presses are being recalled because the glass carafe can fall out of the metal frame and plastic base. This defect causes the glass to break or shatter, which has led to 14 reports of breakages and four reports of minor injuries, including two lacerations and two burns. These units were sold exclusively at Starbucks nationwide and online from November 2013 through December 2013. Consumers should immediately stop using the coffee press and return it to a Starbucks store or contact Bodum for a full refund.

Risk

The plastic base can separate from the metal frame, allowing the glass carafe to fall out and shatter. This poses a risk of cuts from broken glass and burns from hot coffee spills.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the bottom of your coffee press for identifying marks: look for a white label with SKU number 11029732 and 'Bodum' printed on it.
  2. Verify the physical appearance: the recalled product is a 10-inch tall 8-cup glass coffee press with a rose gold-colored metal frame, a locking lid, and a black plastic base with 'Bodum' and 'Made in Portugal' embossed on the bottom.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled coffee press to avoid the risk of the carafe falling out and shattering.
  4. If you purchased the coffee press at a physical Starbucks store, return it to any Starbucks location for a full refund.
  5. If you purchased the coffee press online at starbucks.com, contact Bodum at (855) 378-6864 or email recall@bodum.com to receive a pre-paid return label for a full refund.
