Summary

BMW of North America is recalling approximately 9,160 of its 2017-2025 K 1600 GT, GTL, B, and 2018-2025 Grand America motorcycles. The seal on the reverse gear control unit may fail over time, allowing moisture to leak into the component. This moisture can cause the control unit to overheat, which may result in a fire. Dealers will replace the affected control units at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If moisture enters the reverse gear control unit, the unit can overheat and catch fire, increasing the risk of property damage or injury to the rider.
