Summary

Kia America, Inc. is recalling approximately 5,046 vehicles, including 2023-2025 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) and 2024-2025 Sportage models equipped with a 4.2-inch dashboard screen and a Genuine Kia tow hitch harness. A software error can cause the instrument panel screen to go blank, preventing the driver from seeing the speedometer and safety warning lights. Dealers will replace the tow hitch harness control module free of charge.

Risk

If the dashboard screen fails, the driver cannot see critical information such as the vehicle's speed or safety warning lights. This lack of information significantly increases the risk of a crash.
