Summary

Orange EV is recalling 37 trucks, including certain 2023-2024 e-TRIEVER and 2018-2023 T-Series models equipped with beavertail frames. The design of the beavertail frame may obstruct the center of the reverse lights, causing the vehicles to fail federal safety standards for lighting. Orange EV will replace and relocate the reverse lights free of charge to ensure full visibility.

Risk

Obstructed reverse lights reduce the vehicle's visibility to pedestrians and other drivers when backing up, which increases the risk of a collision. While no specific injuries are reported, this defect violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's model and year to see if you own an Orange EV 2023-2024 e-TRIEVER or a 2018-2023 T-Series truck with a beavertail frame.
  2. Limit on-road use of the vehicle while operating without a trailer until the remedy is completed to minimize visibility risks.
  3. Contact Orange EV customer service at 1-866-688-5223 to schedule your free repair; Orange EV will replace and relocate the reverse lights.
  4. Refer to the owner notification letter mailed on August 15, 2025, for additional manufacturer-specific details.
  5. If you have further questions or have not received a letter, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
