Summary

Watson & Chalin Manufacturing is recalling 24 units of its SL2065 steerable lift axle suspension systems with a 20,000lb capacity. These specific suspension systems may have bearing journals that are not fully seated into the steering knuckle assembly. W&C will coordinate with vehicle manufacturers and owners to provide and install replacement axle subassemblies entirely free of charge.

Risk

If the bearing journals are not properly seated, the spindle can become loose and eventually fracture. A fractured spindle can fall off the vehicle and become a dangerous road hazard or cause the driver to lose control, increasing the risk of a crash.
