Summary

SEA Electric LLC is recalling 174 vehicles including 2023-2025 SEA Electric 5e, 2020-2022 Ford F59, 2020 Hino 195, and 2019 Isuzu NRR models. These vehicles are equipped with battery management system (BMS) software from December 2022 or earlier that contains a defect. This software can cause the high-voltage battery to shut down unexpectedly, leading to a complete loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To address this, dealers will provide a free software update to affected owners.

Risk

A sudden shutdown of the high-voltage battery causes an immediate loss of drive power, which can occur without warning and significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is one of the 174 affected units: 2023-2025 SEA Electric 5e, 2020-2022 Ford F59, 2020 Hino 195, or 2019 Isuzu NRR.
  2. Contact SEA-Electric customer service at 1-833-732-3532 to verify if your specific vehicle is equipped with the older battery management software version from December 2022 or earlier.
  3. If your vehicle is affected, contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free update for the battery management system (BMS) software.
  4. For further information or additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
