Summary

SEA Electric LLC is recalling 27 electric vehicle battery management systems (BMS) due to a software defect. The software can cause the high-voltage battery to shut down unexpectedly, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To resolve this issue, dealers will perform a free software update for all affected units.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power while driving can leave a vehicle stranded and unable to accelerate or maintain speed, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  2. If your vehicle is affected, contact SEA Electric customer service at 1-833-732-3532 to schedule a free update for the BMS software.
  3. Confirm with the dealer that the update has been successfully applied to prevent an unexpected high-voltage battery shutdown.
