Chrysler (FCA US, LLC): Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Recalled for Air Bag Interference

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 44,708 of its 2022-2023 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles because the interior trim on the upper B-pillar may not be fully seated. This loose trim can interfere with the proper deployment of the side curtain air bags, meaning the vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for ejection mitigation. Dealers will inspect and either reseat or replace the trim pieces at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the side curtain air bags are blocked or hindered by the interior trim during a crash, they may not provide the intended level of protection, increasing the risk of occupant injury or ejection from the vehicle.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is included in this recall: it affects certain 2022-2023 Jeep Wagoneer and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer SUVs.
  2. Contact an authorized Chrysler or Jeep dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's upper B-pillar interior trim.
  3. If the trim is found to be improperly seated, the dealer will reseat or replace the trim pieces as necessary at no charge to you.
  4. If you have further questions, contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 76A.
  5. For additional information, you may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
