Summary

B & P Lamp Supply is recalling about 3,000 Golo brand 3-way turn knob lamp sockets because a screw inside the socket can fail to fasten tightly. This defect can lead to electrical arcing or overheating, which creates a serious fire hazard. One report of a loose screw has been received, though no injuries have occurred. These brown medium-sized sockets were sold as individual repair or replacement parts at lamp and repair shops nationwide between May 2017 and December 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using and disconnect the recalled sockets and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund or a replacement.

Risk

The lamp socket screw does not fasten securely, which can cause electrical arcing or overheating. This creates a risk of the socket catching fire while in use.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your lamp sockets for the brand name 'Golo', part number 'GE-8015', and the rating '250V 250W' stamped on the top of the brown socket near the wire terminals.
  2. Immediately stop using any lamps containing these recalled sockets and disconnect the lamp from the power source.
  3. Remove the recalled 3-way lamp socket interior from your lamp and return it to the lamp shop, lamp shade shop, or repair shop where it was purchased.
  4. Request a full refund or a replacement 3-way lamp socket from the retailer.
