Summary

Azuma Foods International Inc USA is recalling approximately 150 units (totaling 150 cases) of various frozen seafood products, including Ika Popo, Teriyaki Grilled Calamari, Salmon Misozuke, and Saba Misozuke. These products are being recalled because random testing by a direct account showed presumptive positive results for Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers who have these frozen fish and squid products should return them for a refund or throw them away.

Risk

The products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
