Terex Advance Mixer, Inc.: 2023 Commander Vehicles Recalled Due to Potential Axle Spindle Fracture

Summary

Terex Advance Mixer, Inc. is recalling 12 of its 2023 Commander vehicles equipped with Composilite SC20 Lift Axles. In these vehicles, the bearing journals may not be fully seated, which prevents the wheel end hub assemblies from being installed correctly. If the hubs are not properly installed, they can leak oil and cause the axle spindles to loosen or break, leading to a potential crash.

Risk

An improperly seated bearing journal can cause the wheel hub to leak oil, which results in the axle spindles loosening or fracturing. If the axle spindle fractures while the vehicle is in motion, it significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is a 2023 Terex Advance Mixer Commander model equipped with a Composilite SC20 Lift Axle.
  2. Contact your local Terex Advance Mixer dealer to schedule a free inspection and potential replacement of the steering knuckle assemblies.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Terex customer service at 1-800-678-5961.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information regarding NHTSA campaign number 24V252.
