Summary

Winnebago Industries is recalling approximately 6,237 of its 2020-2024 Era, View, and Navion recreational vehicles. The retractable awnings on these vehicles may suddenly extend while the vehicle is in motion. To address this, dealers will install a parking brake interlock module and update the awning firmware to prevent extension while driving.

Risk

If an awning extends unexpectedly while the vehicle is in transit, it can create a significant distraction for the driver or become a road hazard for other vehicles, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or owner's manual to confirm if you own a 2020-2024 Winnebago Era, View, or Navion recreational vehicle.
  2. Contact a Winnebago Industries dealer to schedule a free repair, which includes the installation of a parking brake interlock module and a firmware update for the awning system.
  3. If you have questions, contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6936 or 1-800-537-1885 and reference recall number 179.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
