Summary

Ariens Company has recalled about 6,260 DELUXE-, PLATINUM-, and PROFESSIONAL-series Sno-Thro® models. On these machines, the impeller and auger assembly can continue to spin even after the operator releases the control lever. This defect poses a serious laceration hazard if a person comes into contact with the rotating parts at the front of the machine. The recalled snow throwers are bright orange and feature either rear wheels or tracks. Ariens is offering a free repair to all affected owners.

Risk

The snow thrower's rotating parts may fail to stop spinning when the control lever is released, which can lead to severe laceration injuries if a user attempts to clear a clog or touches the front housing while the parts are still in motion. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.
