Summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles is recalling about 300 2017 Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail SE and Wildcat Sport SE Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs), as well as approximately 3,000 winch accessory kits sold separately. A component called a winch solenoid, located under the operator's seat, can overheat and catch fire. There have been 49 reports of solenoid failure, with five of those resulting in fires. Consumers should immediately stop using vehicles equipped with these solenoids and contact an Arctic Cat dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The winch solenoid can overheat during use, which creates a significant risk of the vehicle catching fire while the operator is seated directly above the component. Five fires have already been reported due to this defect.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the side of your vehicle for the labels 'Wildcat Trail SE' or 'Wildcat Sport SE' to identify if you have a 2017 Special Edition model.
  2. If you own a 2014 through 2017 Arctic Cat Wildcat Sport or Wildcat Trail ROV, check if you purchased or installed a separate winch accessory kit between December 2013 and August 2017.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled ROVs if they are equipped with the affected winch solenoids.
  4. Contact an authorized Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair of the winch solenoid system.
