Summary

Arctic Cat has recalled approximately 9,000 Model Year 2018 and 2019 snowmobiles including models M8000, XF8000, ZR8000, and Norseman X8000. These vehicles are being recalled because the exhaust can produce flames from the muffler outlet during operation. Arctic Cat has received 70 reports of plastic melting around the exhaust area and four reports of the plastic catching fire, though no injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the affected vehicles and contact a dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The snowmobile's exhaust system can emit flames from the muffler, which can melt or ignite nearby plastic body components, posing a serious fire hazard to the operator.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your snowmobile for the model name (M8000, XF8000, ZR8000, or Norseman X8000) and the number '8000' printed on both sides of the front hood or side panel.
  2. Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stamped on the right side of the snowmobile tunnel near the right footrest to verify if your 2018 or 2019 model is included in this recall.
  3. Stop using the recalled snowmobile immediately to prevent the risk of fire.
  4. Contact an authorized Arctic Cat dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair.
  5. You can contact Arctic Cat directly at 800-279-6851 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit https://arcticcat.txtsv.com/ and click on 'Recall Information' at the bottom of the page.
