Summary

American Woodcrafters is recalling about 1,900 Cottage Retreat II bunk beds with side ladders because the side mattress support rails can break unexpectedly. The company has received two reports of these rails breaking, causing children to fall from the beds and sustain bruising. The recalled beds have a white finish and were sold in twin-over-twin and twin-over-full configurations at Havertys stores and online between September 2011 and March 2014.

Risk

The mattress support rails on the side of the bed can snap or break during use. This causes the mattress to collapse or the occupant to fall, which led to reports of children falling and suffering bruises.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the inside of the four bed rails for a label containing 'American Woodcrafters', 'Made in Indonesia', and SKU number 6310-9771 to confirm if your Cottage Retreat II bunk bed is affected.
  2. Immediately stop using the affected bunk beds to prevent falls or injuries.
  3. Contact Havertys to arrange for the free delivery and professional installation of free replacement rails.
