Summary

About 12,890 American Bolt and Screw tip-over restraint kits are being recalled because the plastic zip tie can become brittle and break. If the tie breaks, the anchored furniture can detach and tip over, potentially causing serious injury or death. These kits were distributed with Canyon Furniture clothing storage units, including chests and dressers in the Canyon Lake, Canyon River, Cottage Colors, Creekside 2.0, Ivy League 2.0, and Modern Colors lines. Consumers should contact American Bolt and Screw for a free replacement kit and keep children away from the furniture until it is properly secured.

Risk

The plastic zip tie used in the restraint kit can break over time. If the tie fails during a furniture tip-over event, the dresser or chest can fall, posing an entrapment and tip-over hazard that can result in serious injuries or death to children. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.
