Summary

All Power is recalling about 10,000 single stage snow throwers because the carburetor needle can corrode and cause fuel to leak. This defect was caused by long-term exposure to certain fuel types during overseas testing and poses a fire hazard to users. The recall involves black and yellow model SB044P units sold at Menards and hardware stores between September 2012 and December 2013. There have been 58 reports of fuel leaks, though no fires or injuries have been reported.

Risk

The carburetor needle can corrode and fail, allowing gasoline to leak out of the unit. This creates a significant risk of fire if the leaking fuel comes into contact with the hot engine or another ignition source.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify your snow thrower by looking for the black and yellow unit with a red gas cap and an 87cc, 4-cycle engine.
  2. Check the top of the unit for a yellow and black sticker that displays the model number SB044P and the phrase '20 Inch Clearing Width.'
  3. Immediately stop using any snow thrower identified as model SB044P.
  4. Contact All Power America toll-free at (888) 896-6881 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to arrange for a free repair.
