Summary

EDIC is recalling approximately 53,000 air movers and blowers, including models labeled as "Aqua Dri," which are used for drying floors. An internal electrical component can fail and overheat, which has already caused four reported fires resulting in property damage. These units were sold nationwide by flood remediation and service professionals between January 2003 and September 2011. Owners should stop using these products immediately and contact EDIC for a free repair kit.

Risk

The internal electrical capacitor in the blower can fail and overheat during operation, posing a serious fire hazard to the building. Four incidents involving fires and property damage have been reported.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled air movers and blowers.
  2. Check the top of the unit for the "Aqua Dri" brand name.
  3. Locate the serial number plate on the back of the unit to identify the model number. Affected models include 3004AD and 3004AD followed by additional letters (e.g., 3004ADxxx).
  4. Verify that your model number does NOT include the letter "N," as model numbers with "N" are not part of this recall.
  5. Confirm your unit has a blue plastic housing measuring roughly 18 by 18 by 18 inches and a 25-foot yellow electrical cord.
  6. Contact EDIC toll-free at 888-289-8720 (8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. PT, Mon-Fri) or email recall@edic-usa.com to receive a free repair kit that you can install yourself.
  7. You can also visit www.EDIC-USA.com for more information regarding this repair.
  8. For additional questions, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
