Summary

Subaru of America is recalling approximately 118,723 Outback and Legacy vehicles from the 2020-2022 model years. A component in the front passenger seat sensor system can crack and short circuit, which may prevent the front passenger air bag from deploying as intended during a collision. Subaru dealers will replace the Occupant Detection System (ODS) sensors on the front passenger seat for all affected vehicles at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the internal sensor component cracks and short circuits, the front passenger air bag may not deploy during a crash, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury to the seat occupant.
