Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 10,655 vehicles, specifically the 2021-2022 GLE 350 and GLE 450 models. The wiring for the front acceleration sensors may have been routed incorrectly during manufacturing, which can prevent the front airbags from deploying as intended during a crash. To fix this safety issue, authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and reroute the wiring harness free of charge.

Risk

If the acceleration sensor wiring is incorrectly routed, the front airbags may fail to deploy or deploy improperly during a collision, significantly increasing the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your model year and type: this recall includes 2021-2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 and GLE 450 vehicles.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the front acceleration sensor wiring harness.
