Summary

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling approximately 64 of its 110-foot aerial fire trucks, including the 2018-2023 Velocity, Impel, Enforcer, and Arrow XT models. The recall is due to a defect where the platform mounting bracket can hit the basket handrail hinge peg when the ladder is extended to its maximum angle, causing the handrail to unexpectedly detach. Owners of these vehicles should contact a Pierce dealer to have new basket handrail hinge pegs installed free of charge.

Risk

If the basket handrail unexpectedly detaches during use, first responders working in the basket could fall or lose their balance, and the falling handrail could strike and injure individuals on the ground below.
