Summary

Advantus is recalling about 384 LEDU Black Matte Fluorescent Computer Task Lamps, Model L283MB, because the internal tape used to secure wiring can overheat and melt. This defect has caused at least one report of smoke emerging from a lamp's housing, creating a burn hazard for users. These black lamps were sold at Staples, Walmart.com, Lowes.com, and through independent office product dealers between February 2020 and July 2020. Consumers should stop using the lamp immediately and contact the manufacturer for a full refund.

Risk

The tape holding wire components inside the lamp housing can overheat and melt during use. This can lead to smoke and heat buildup, posing a burn hazard to anyone touching or near the lamp housing.
