Summary

Acme United is recalling approximately 2,400 boxes of PhysiciansCare brand Allergy, Allergy Plus, and Cold and Cough medications. These products, which contain diphenhydramine hydrochloride and acetaminophen, were sold online at Amazon.com from January 2021 through August 2022 for between $5 and $19. The recall was issued because the packaging is not child-resistant, posing a serious risk of poisoning if young children access and swallow the medication. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date. Consumers should immediately move the products to a secure location and contact Acme United for a refund and disposal instructions.

Risk

The product packaging fails to meet the child-resistant requirements of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. If the contents are swallowed by young children, it poses a severe risk of accidental poisoning.
