Summary

New Flyer of America is recalling 30 of its 2023 XD60 and XDE60 60-foot articulated transit buses because the anti-lock brake system (ABS) can fail. The ABS module may lose power during hard braking maneuvers, which causes the entire system to stop functioning. All 30 affected vehicles have already been repaired by the manufacturer, so no owner notification letters will be sent.

Risk

If the ABS system loses power during hard braking, it will fail to prevent the wheels from locking up, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your fleet includes 2023 New Flyer XD60 or XDE60 60' articulated transit buses.
  2. Verify that your specific vehicles have already been serviced, as New Flyer indicates all 30 affected units have been repaired.
  3. If you have questions regarding the repair status of your bus, contact New Flyer customer service at 1-204-224-6706.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
