Navistar, Inc.: International and IC Bus Vehicles Recalled for ABS Indicator Malfunction

Summary

Navistar is recalling approximately 59,684 vehicles including 2021-2024 International HV, HX, LoneStar, LT, MV, eMV, and RH trucks, along with IC Bus CE, RE, and TC commercial buses. The anti-lock brake system (ABS) indicator light may fail to stay on when the vehicle is moving and an ABS malfunction is present. Dealers will update the vehicle software free of charge to ensure the warning light functions correctly.

Risk

If the ABS indicator light does not stay illuminated during a system failure, the driver will not be alerted to the malfunction. Operating a vehicle without a functioning anti-lock brake system increases the risk of a crash during braking maneuvers.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is one of the affected models: 2021-2024 International HV, HX, LoneStar, LT, MV, eMV, or RH trucks; 2021-2024 IC Bus CE; 2021-2023 IC Bus RE; or 2022-2023 IC Bus TC buses.
  2. Contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to confirm if your specific VIN is included in this recall (reference recall number 23515).
  3. Schedule a free service appointment with an authorized Navistar dealer to have the vehicle software updated.
  4. Note that towing variant vehicles under this specific campaign (23V370) will not be repaired under a separate recall numbered 24V-8918.
  5. For additional information or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
