Approximately 1,392 bottles of SYP Health Hand Sanitizer Alcohol Gel (ethyl alcohol) 70% are being recalled because they were manufactured in a facility where products were found to contain methanol and have insufficient ethanol levels. Methanol, or wood alcohol, is a toxic substance that is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitizers and can be life-threatening if absorbed through the skin or ingested. Substantial methanol exposure can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system, or death.
