A&I Recalls Tractor Canopies Due To Injury Hazard

Summary

Approximately 6,200 A&I tractor canopies are being recalled because they do not meet design specifications and can cause a tractor's Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) to fail. The recalled canopies are steel attachments sold in green, blue, orange, red, and dark red that bolt onto the tractor's safety frame. They were sold at John Deere dealers and other retailers nationwide from September 2016 through April 2018. Consumers should immediately stop using tractors with these canopies installed and contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free repair.

Risk

If the tractor rolls over, the defective canopy can cause the safety rollover frame to fail, leaving the operator unprotected and significantly increasing the risk of serious injury or death. While no incidents have been reported, the hardware and mounting brackets do not meet the structural standards required for rollover protection.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately identify if your tractor is equipped with an A&I steel canopy in green, blue, orange, red, or dark red purchased between September 2016 and April 2018.
  2. Stop using any tractor that has a recalled canopy installed until it has been repaired.
  3. Contact an authorized John Deere dealer to schedule a free repair of the canopy mounting system.
  4. You can contact A&I at 800-657-4343 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.aiproducts.com or www.johndeere.com and click on 'Recalls' under the Parts & Service menu for more information.
