Summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling approximately 1,189 LFS and LFS Artic transit buses from model years 2017 through 2023. A defect in the 24-volt power cable and its mounting fastener can cause an electrical short circuit at the fuse holder. Nova Bus will inspect the fuse holder and cable lugs and perform necessary cleaning or removals to fix the issue at no cost to owners. This recall replaces and expands a previous recall (22V-416), meaning vehicles repaired under the older recall must be brought in again for this new remedy.

Risk

An electrical short circuit can cause the 250-amp fuse holder to overheat. This significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire occurring while the bus is being driven or while it is parked.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your fleet includes affected 2017-2023 LFS or 2017-2022 LFS Artic transit buses.
  2. Check your records or contact Nova Bus to see if your vehicle is part of recall CR5445 (NHTSA campaign number 23V607).
  3. Even if your vehicle was previously repaired under recall 22V-416, you must schedule a new appointment to receive the updated remedy.
  4. Contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682 to arrange for a free inspection and repair of the fuse holder and cable lugs.
  5. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
